Our Favorite Trail Mix Recipe
Ready in under 5 minutes this Trail Mix is loaded with healthy nuts and dried fruits. We take it with us to almost all our outdoor adventures.
This recipe is a mix of my favorite fruits and nuts, but in principle, you can add or substitute any ingredients.
When I use bigger fruits like apricots, figs, or dates I sometimes cut them into smaller pieces, but this is just my preference. You can easily put the whole fruit.
As a rule, I always use unsalted nuts and unsulfured dried fruits. If you can not find unsulfured fruits wash them and dry them before using. They will lose a big part of the sulfurs that are on their surface.
Once you decided on your ingredients, simply measure them to your taste, place them in a bowl or closed container, and give them a good mix.
That’s it!
Here is my recipe:
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 100 g unsalted almonds
- 100 g unsalted cashews
- 100 g unsalted and peeled hazelnuts
- 50 g pumpkin seeds
- 50 g sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup banana chips
- 1/2 cup raisins (I prefer sultanas)
- 1/2 cup dried mango (or cranberries)
Directions:
Place all the ingredients in a small to medium-sized bowl or closed container and toss them together.
This amount usually serves us for several hikes. We keep our Trail Mix in a cool dry place.
